Description

Transition Year
Radio Journalism Course

COMPLETE COURSE PLAN AND MODULE PACK FOR TEACHERS

Teach your students a dynamic and interesting course about Radio Journalism and then see them in action in a real radio broadcasting studio!

A GREAT “NO WORRIES” PROGRAMME

Our course is a great experience for Transition Year students, and teachers have almost no work to do. We provide everything students need for a fantastic experience. Our “Teacher Pack” includes a plan and organised content for each lesson. Additional teacher resources include audio of news reading and group interviews.

4 MAIN ELEMENTS IN THE STUDIO

1. Students will get to read the news in a real radio studio. They will have prepared their script in the classroom with their teacher. This is an opportunity for students to practice their presentation skills.

2. Your students will get to work with two journalists for group interviewing skills; they will deliver a brief to the journalists and participate in a group radio interview which will simulate a live radio environment.

3. They will also participate in a Vox-Pop and learn how the raw audio is edited, mixed and packaged before broadcast.

4. The Students will have an opportunity to ask the journalists any questions they like regarding the journalism profession and Irish media in general. This is a chance to get a real insight into this career choice.

What are you waiting for?

Certification

On successful completion of this course each student will receive an individual Certificate of Achievement.

In addition, each school receives audio recordings made on the day, and a souvenir video of their TY students in studio.

What they say about Transition Year Radio Course

  • I’ve learned that it is actually a lot easier than I thought it was to talk on the radio. I’ve learned that I should be more confident in myself. I learned what the inside of a recording studio looks like, and the process of making radio.
