What they say about Radio Presenting
The course provided by the Irish Academy (and Dublin City FM) in radio presenting has empowered me to produce an in-house podcast for the GUI which has in turn allowed us to provide syndicated content to radio stations around Ireland. I would highly recommend the course to anyone who wants to find out how to present a radio show or podcast.” Listen to the GUI podcasts at https://soundcloud.com/guigolf/

The radio presenting course is actually one thing that made me love Dublin! I got to meet great, wonderful people. I applied for this course because I want to be a presenter; being on television or radio is okay for me, but since this course I am more into radio presenting. I joined this course so that I could get a job as a radio presenter, whether it’s for news, entertainment or current affairs. All in all, it is a great experience and I really recommend it to anyone who is interested in being a presenter to try it out, as they would really enjoy it!
As the days pass, I get more and more revelations from the work we did. My great takeaway is that you have to do your homework! Being prepared is what it’s all about. In order for an interview to sound natural you need to prepare.
Having attended several courses in Presentation Skills in my career to date which covers Marketing, Media, and Technology Sales; I felt this course could further develop these skills from a different angle.
On the surface, this course may appear to be aimed at a broadcast-focused individual; but this has massive relevance in the corporate world. The course was presented by the great Jimmy Greeley & Ellen Gunning who trained and re-trained me in various aspects of presenting, interviewing & reading in front of a camera.
The explosion of podcasts and videos to showcase and educate customers through engaging content means we need to be trained in a way to deliver these messages on behalf of the businesses we represent. This course is unique that it blends practical training and delivery under the watchful eye of experienced tutors and always on camera!
Ode to Ellen and Mick…
Twas great to meet you both today,
It really really was.
It’s great to be back in Radio land,
Because because because…
…because the craic was only mighty,
It really was a pleasure.
It felt like the warmest homecoming and,
The experience, I will treasure.
So thanks to the effervescent Ellen,
Also to Mick; my hat, I doff.
For rekindled the fire and my desire ~
for Radio. And kicking it all off.
And so this little ditty,
Could go on and on and on.
But I think you get the message,
So now I will be gone.
