We have been teaching Radio Journalism since 2014. The course offers participants an opportunity to learn how research, prepare, record, package and pitch a radio clip to a radio station. In addition, it gives graduates an opportunity to have their final project aired on 103.2 Dublin City fm.

A broad range of innovative and proven Radio Journalism Course Materials

We created special video clips. We interviewed newspaper editors, social media experts, journalists, event managers, pr practitioners, TV presenters and radio journalists about their businesses. Their advice is available exclusively to our students.

We also share a lot of audio content. Ellen Gunning puts communications professionals in the interviewee chair on her radio programme. The Mediascope Show is broadcast on 103.2 Dublin City fm each week. Our specially selected and edited Mediascope audios give insights into radio in Ireland, freedom of information legislation, the Khogaly massacre and much more.

This course also has specially created instructional video tutorials on how to use the relevant technology. The questions in each module test your ability to apply the skills you are learning. This is real world stuff.

You are in good hands!

What they say about Radio Journalism

  • As a former graduate of the Irish Academy’s Journalism course, I had no hesitation in returning to undertake the Diploma in Radio Journalism. The flexible, online approach was key for me as I work full-time. This course gave me an excellent insight into the whole area of radio journalism and the tutor input was fantastic. There is a really good balance between the practical and the theoretical and each of the 20 modules are really engaging. I never thought I would say this about a final assignment but it was a very enjoyable experience! I have to also acknowledge the support from Chris, the Student Liaison Officer who was fantastic in terms of feedback and answering any queries throughout. If you are looking to up skill in any area of media production then definitely look no further than the Irish Academy of Public Relations.

  • The quality of teaching at the Irish Academy is excellent, with great attention to detail. I had not imagined that I would learn so much. I was guided always in a friendly and supportive manner which made the whole experience extremely enjoyable. In addition, there was always a member of staff that could be approached if you needed help with any administrative aspect of the course, whom again were friendly and approachable. I would highly recommend this course to anyone wanting a qualitative experience from the educational process.
