If you enjoy investigating, like to get to the bottom of things, are happiest when you have confirmed that you are right, get a thrill putting fingers on a keyboard and positively adore the idea that your name (your byline) could appear on blogs and newspaper articles (online and print), then you should seriously consider a career in print journalism.
This is also the only course which will launch your career when you graduate. Your final assignment is a story which has been researched, written and presented by you, for publication as a guest blogger on the Irish Academy’s website.
What they say about Journalism
I started studying with the Irish Academy of Public Relations after a friend of mine recommended their certificate course in News Journalism. The course allowed me to return to study with like minded people in a relaxed and professional set up at an affordable price. I have since upgraded to the Academy’s Diploma course in journalism and just recently attended their one day certificate course in Radio Broadcasting which was held at the Radio Na Life studios in Dublin. Studying with the Academy has been a pleasure from day one and their help and guidance has been a crucial factor in enabling me to achieve a life-long ambition.

A very engaging course successfully balancing practical and theoretical aspects of journalism. I would without a doubt recommend it to anyone wishing to acquire essential journalistic skills and learn more about this profession. The weekly feedback from the tutor allowed me to pin down my writing strengths and weaknesses and served as an indicator of the type of journalistic activity that I would enjoy most. Most importantly, the course gave me confidence in my abilities and gave me a solid general insight into the journalistic field

Basically from my childhood I was dreaming to become a news reporter. I am from a small village in Kannur, Kerala state in India. After completing my graduation I use to work for an evening news paper for few years. Then I got a chance to come to Bahrain to work as an accountant.
During Nov 2014 I came across an advertisement about ELearning course conducted by Orient Planet Academy in association with The Irish Academy. I decided to join the course, Certificate of Journalism, out of various courses conducted by The Orient Academy.
The journalism course covers 10 modules, covering various aspects of journalism in detail from the abilities of a reporter, language, how to analyze and report successfully, style and questions to be asked, technics of news feature, how to assess the key persons and people connected to be interviewed, how to exchange the information between reporter and the source, and to analyze the heading, emotion visual and insight of the article published. The course was interesting due to the effective assignment provided by the academy.
This journalism course gave me the strength, knowledge and understanding of the alertness of a journalist and dedication towards the job. I am confident that I can take up any assignment of reporting now onwards.
I am thankful to the faculties and administrative staff of the Orient planet for their guidance and prompt assistance throughout the course. I wish them all success.
I was very glad for the opportunity to take this course; the fact that it’s delivered online makes it accessible to students all over the world who for whatever reason are unable to study journalism in their home countries. It’s flexible and accommodating, and the feedback from Mr Tony McCullagh was very positive and assured me that I have what it takes to pursue this as a career.
The Academy’s Diploma in Print Journalism Course was exactly what I was looking for; a broad and comprehensive overview of every aspect of contemporary journalism. Each module was packed with information without being overwhelming and I felt I learned something applicable from each assignment. The feedback from my tutor Jack Gleeson was invaluable and I appreciated the extra lengths he went to, often drawing from his own experience as a journalist to highlight a point. I would highly recommend the course for anyone interested in journalism, writing or research.
