A message from our Director

I formed the Irish Academy of Public Relations in 1992. My background is in communications – I’ve worked in public relations, event management, and journalism since the 1980s. I’ve presented my own show on radio – which is still running – and I’ve been interviewed and had clients interviewed on television.

Why am I telling you this? Because communications is my passion. I’m utterly addicted to this business. I find it fascinating, exciting, exhilarating and exhausting. It’s hard work and good fun. It is never, ever boring. You’re constantly meeting new people, facing new challenges, reacting to new situations.

When I formed the Academy I wanted to give our students a big advantage over other colleges. So, our online courses are tutored by industry professionals. Your tutor is someone who works in the business, is passionate about it and shares their passion and experience with you.

I know all of the tutors personally. I’ve worked with them. I’ve taught some of them. I’ve learned from all of them.

You are entering one of the most exciting industries in the world. You will learn something new every single day and you will reap the financial rewards.

When you complete one of our courses you are a graduate of the Academy. Our motto is  –   once a graduate, always a graduate. So, whether you did a course with us 20 years ago and we can help you now, or you are doing a course with us at the moment and we can help your career in the future – don’t hesitate to contact us. That’s what we’re here for.
